Brokenness, Blessings, and Hope

We’re all broken. There is not one person alive that is perfect. It is just that sometimes some of us are more broken than others. Brokenness can manifest itself in many ways as in physically, emotionally, mentally, and/or spiritually. Two other aspects that need to be taken into account is the resources available to a person and how much they are able to use those resources. It can be quite complicated.

There is a song by Laura Story called Blessings. It explains how we all pray for prosperity and healing in our lives, but that sometimes it takes a thousand sleepless nights to know God is near. You can listen to the song here and read the lyrics here. She makes note that these are good things to pray for because God asks us to take everything to him in prayer. However, sometimes blessings come in the form of rain or in this conversation, brokenness.

My prayer is that as we deal with the brokenness in our individual lives and of those around us, we will see the blessing. We will learn from the brokenness about love, mercy and compassion from our own lives and those we care for. Then, we will allow these to spill out and over from our lives into the lives of others who desperately need God.

I have said before,

9 times out of 10, the things we deal with on a daily basis,

big and small, are not about us.

Sure, we learn from these things, but they are meant to be passed on to those coming behind us to give them HOPE.

So, today, embrace the brokenness in your own life. Ask God to show you what he wants you to learn from your brokenness. Take the lessons you are learning and ask God to show you someone who needs to see God’s love through their own brokenness and pass it on to them. Then, and only then, can the light of God’s love begin to shine and spill over into another person’s life.

Some of us deal not only with our own brokenness, but with another’s brokenness on a daily basis.  This can be hard.  But, there is blessing and hope that can emerge out of the brokenness in all of us.  May God grant you the ability to see the blessing and hope that brokenness can bring to our lives and the lives of those around us.

Blessings!

I am grateful for the reminder of who I am (we are) and the Lord of the universe. The song you mentioned has been one of my favorites for a long while. It is a good reminder to seek to understand my life and others lives from His perspective.
